What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation where the body is relaxed but the mind is still active.  We experience this natural trance state every day of our lives when being engrossed in a good book or film, or day dreaming.  Hypnosis is not being asleep or "being under" as in stage hypnosis which is purely for entertainment.

Is hypnosis effective?

Yes, it has been used for hundred of years and is used by many health professionals including doctors and dentists.  Hypnosis was approved by the Medical Association in 1995 as a valid medical treatment.

How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy works by speaking directly to the engine of our minds - our unconscious mind which is responsible for 90% of what we feel, think and do.  For healthy, positive change, we direct suggestion to the unconscious mind whilst providing you with tools such as self hypnosis for usage outwith the therapy session.  Hypnotherapy is goal orientated empowering you to make changes in your life when you are ready.

Will I be in control?

Yes, most definitely.  You will be aware of everything that is going on at all times.  You will feel so relaxed and calm.  Your unconscious mind has one primary goal which is your well being.  You will only respond to positive suggestions which are beneficial for you.

How many sessions will I need?
